In the first phase of Odisha, polling is going on for 4 parliamentary constituencies Koraput, Nabarangpur, Berhampur, Kalahandi. Simultaneous voting is also going on for 28 assembly constituencies. Polling has been held from the scheduled time of 7 am. 62 lakh 87 thousand voters are polling. Tight security arrangements have been made for polling in Maoist-affected areas. Votes are being accepted for the Kalahandi Lok Sabha seat and its sub-district Nuapada, Khariar, Lanjigarh, Junagadh, Dharmagarh, Bhavanipatna and Narla assembly seats. Voting will be held in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat and Umerkot, Jharigaon, Nabarangpur, Dabugaon, Kotpad, Malkangari and Chittagong assembly constituencies under it. Voting is being held for Brahmapur Parliamentary Constituency and its Chhatrapur, Gopalpur, Brahmapur, Dhakiphandi, Chikiti, Mohana and Parlakhemundi Assembly seats. Similarly, votes are being accepted for the Lok Sabha seat of Koraput and its sub-districts of Gunupur, Bishmaktak, Rayagada, Laxmipur, Jaipur, Koraput and Pattangi. A total of 37 candidates are contesting for the parliamentary constituencies of Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Berhampur. There are 11 candidates each for Koraput, Kalahandi and Berhampur Lok Sabha constituencies and 4 candidates in Nabarangpur. On the other hand, a minimum of 3 candidates are contesting for Jhargaon, Nabarangpur and Dabugon assembly seats, while a maximum of 17 candidates are contesting for Berhampur assembly constituency. In the same period, 62 lakh 87 thousand 22 voters will register their voting rights in a total of 733 booths. Among them, there are 33 lakh 97 thousand 527 men, 31 lakh 89 thousand 60 women and 635 third gender voters.
