In a significant development, a Special Court in Bengaluru has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Prajwal Revanna, a suspended JD(S) leader who is currently facing serious allegations of sexually abusing multiple women in a rape case. The bail application, which was moved by his advocate Arun, was dismissed by the special court for Elected Representative.
According to official sources, Prajwal Revanna has already booked a return flight ticket from Munich to Bengaluru, scheduled to arrive in the city during the early hours of May 31. This news comes as the grandson of JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda finds himself embroiled in an alleged rape and sexual harassment case involving a 47-year-old woman. It is worth noting
that Prajwal Revanna had reportedly left for Germany on April 27, just a day after the Lok Sabha segment in Hassan went to polls, and has been evading authorities ever since.
On May 18, the Special Court for Elected Representatives issued an arrest warrant against Prajwal Revanna following an application filed by the SIT (Special Investigation Team). However, in a surprising turn of events, the SIT arrested Prajwal Revanna’s father and JD(S) MLA HD Revanna, who has also been implicated in the kidnapping of the woman involved in the case.
All eyes are now on Kempegowda International Airport, where Prajwal Revanna is expected to land on May 31. Authorities are prepared to apprehend him the moment he sets foot on Indian soil. Meanwhile, Prajwal Revanna’s mother, Bhavani Revanna, has filed an anticipatory bail in the special court for elected representatives, fearing arrest in connection with the kidnapping case related to her husband. The SIT has raised objections to granting her anticipatory bail and has also sought the cancellation of the interim anticipatory bail that was issued to HD Revanna in the same case. The court is set to announce its decision regarding Bhavani Revanna’s anticipatory bail on May 31.
In a separate incident, the SIT police arrested two individuals, Naveen Gowda and Chetan, on charges of circulating objectionable content. This arrest was based on a complaint filed by Poornachandra Tejasvi, a political agent of Prajwal Revanna, who was the JD(S) candidate in the Lok Sabha polls. The accused were brought from Bengaluru to Hassan and presented before the court. The Second Additional Senior Civil Judge and JMFC have remanded them in police custody until June 1.
These recent developments have caused a stir in Bengaluru and surrounding areas, as the case continues to unfold, attracting significant attention from the public and media alike. As the legal proceedings progress, the fate of Prajwal Revanna and the others involved in the case remains uncertain.
