Mootv Odisha : Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination for the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning. This comes after a flashy six-kilometer roadshow held the previous evening. Expressing his deep connection with the city, he said, “My relationship with my Kashi is amazing, inseparable, and incomparable… it cannot be expressed in words!” He also expressed his gratitude to the people of Varanasi, saying, “I am overwhelmed and emotional! I did not even realize how 10 years passed under the shade of your affection. Aaj Maa Ganga ne mujhe god le liya hai (today, Maa Ganga has adopted me)”.

The BJP has won this seat eight times since 1991, with only one instance of the Congress breaking their winning streak in 2004. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Modi won by a significant margin of nearly 4.8 lakh votes, a substantial increase from his winning margin of 3.72 lakh votes in the previous election.
Varanasi is scheduled to vote in the seventh and final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha election on June 1. The city has been a stronghold of the BJP and Prime Minister Modi, who has secured wins with large margins in the past two consecutive terms.
