Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi files nomination from Varanasi.

Mootv Odisha : Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination for the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning. This comes after a flashy six-kilometer roadshow held the previous evening. He was accompanied by a phalanx of senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its alliance partners, including party boss JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Other leaders present included Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary, Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan, Apna Dal (Sonelal) boss Anupriya Patel, and the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party’s Om Prakash Rajbhar.

Before filing his nomination, Prime Minister Modi prayed at the iconic Dashashwamedh Ghat and visited the Kaal Bhairav Temple in Varanasi. Expressing his deep connection with the city, he said, “My relationship with my Kashi is amazing, inseparable, and incomparable… it cannot be expressed in words!” He also expressed his gratitude to the people of Varanasi, saying, “I am overwhelmed and emotional! I did not even realize how 10 years passed under the shade of your affection. Aaj Maa Ganga ne mujhe god le liya hai (today, Maa Ganga has adopted me)”.

After filing his nomination, Prime Minister Modi interacted with party workers at the Rudraksh Convention Centre in Varanasi. He expressed his gratitude for the love and support shown by the people of Varanasi during his roadshow, calling it an unforgettable moment in his life.

Prime Minister Modi is seeking a third consecutive term from the Varanasi constituency. The BJP has won this seat eight times since 1991, with only one instance of the Congress breaking their winning streak in 2004. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Modi won by a significant margin of nearly 4.8 lakh votes, a substantial increase from his winning margin of 3.72 lakh votes in the previous election.

Varanasi is scheduled to vote in the seventh and final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha election on June 1. The city has been a stronghold of the BJP and Prime Minister Modi, who has secured wins with large margins in the past two consecutive terms.
