Chief Minister Mohan ordered a judicial inquiry into the Bharatpur case

The state government has taken big steps in the much talked about Bharatpur police station incident. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered a judicial investigation. The inquiry will be chaired by Justice Chittaranjan Das and the government has requested the commission to submit its report within 60 days. Similarly, the state government has also requested the High Court to conduct an investigation under the supervision of the High Court. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, who returned from a visit to Keonjhar last night (Sunday) in Bhubaneswar with two Deputy Chief Ministers, Revenue Minister, Law Minister and senior officials, gave this order after reviewing the incident in a high-level meeting.

The chief minister’s office said, “The chief minister has given utmost importance to the rule of law. In addition, the state government has respect for the Indian Army. The state government is fully concerned about the dignity, safety and rights of women. The police officers involved in this incident have been suspended. A case has been filed against them. Action has also been taken against the youths involved in the incident. According to the law, the state government has taken steps to take strict action against all the people involved in the incident.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Bardhan Singhdeo, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Law, Purity and Unemployment Minister Prithviraj Harichandan along with Advocate General Pitambar Acharya, Chief Administrative Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Administrative Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Additional Home Secretary Chief Secretary Satyabrat Sahu, Director General of Police YB Khurania were present.

Earlier, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the army officer and his female friend held a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Bardhan Singhdeo, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Law, Welfare and Unemployment Minister Prithviraj Harichandan at the State Guest House yesterday. The victim’s father and other senior serving army officers were also present in the discussion. All aspects of the incident were discussed in the meeting. After this, the Deputy Chief Minister and other ministers promised that strict action will be taken against all the police officers and other persons involved in the incident.
