Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack against the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal during a poll rally in Delhi’s Dwarka. His criticism was centered on the recent Calcutta High Court judgment that invalidated all OBC (Other Backward Classes) certificates issued in the state after 2010. Modi alleged that the Trinamool Congress, which has been in power since 2011, had issued OBC certificates to Muslims solely for the purpose of securing their votes.
Speaking at the rally, Modi condemned the politics of appeasement and accused the West Bengal government of crossing all limits by engaging in vote bank politics. He emphasized the significance of the Calcutta High Court’s verdict, highlighting the fact that it was a consequence of the state government granting OBC certificates to Muslims. According to Modi, this was a clear example of prioritizing the interests of a particular community over others.
Modi further criticized the opposition, accusing them of offering government lands to the Waqf Board in exchange for votes. He claimed that these political parties sought to reserve 15% of the country’s budget for minorities and advocated for loans from banks and government tenders based on religious considerations. He also accused them of opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to please their vote bank.
Taking a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Modi suggested that sometimes the truth inadvertently slips out when one speaks lies. He referred to Rahul Gandhi as the “Shehzada” and highlighted his recent confession that the system established by his grandmother, father, and mother had been severely biased against Dalits, backward classes, and Adivasis. According to Modi, this system implemented by the Congress had adversely affected multiple generations of these communities.
In conclusion, Modi’s speech targeted the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal for providing OBC certificates to Muslims for political gain. He also criticized the opposition for allegedly favoring minority communities and opposing the CAA. Furthermore, he seized the opportunity to highlight the flaws in the system established by the Congress, which he claimed had marginalized Dalits, backward classes, and Adivasis.
